1000

Hard work and rain have kept me off the scooter for too long.  I finally said to hell with it and rode it in the rain today.  I was rewarded by bright beautiful sunshine this afternoon.  Did my usual ride but in reverse and remembered why I don't go that way (Sun in your eyes).  You may be able to tell, but the bike is new. I picked it up around August 1, 2010.  The title will tell you the benchmark set today.  I crossed the 1000 mile mark in little over a month and minus a few june bugs I have enjoyed every mile.  Now I'm just hoping Santa is going to bring me some new pipes for Christmas.

Next to the right tonight I am very happy to have both the NFL and NCAA football back.  Go Saints!

Good Hard Work

I have never been afraid to do some heavy lifting and put in a full days labor.  I spent my labor day weekend laboring.  While not my profession, I had a blast doing a little dirt work and carpentry.  At the end of the day (weekend) I was able to put my travel trailer on my land and completed a 250 sq ft deck on the front.

This was the first sunset enjoyed off my new deck.

Yesterday was a beautiful sunset, but I enjoyed it a little more having put in a lot of work!  To look through the turn, I remembered again that there are few things more satisfying than completing a project with your own two hands.  Your work should be honest, it shouldn't cause anger or stress to others needlessly, and if you are truly lucky it will serve your fellow man.  If you find yourself working under different terms, I hope like me you will fight to make your living in an honorable way.

Jerm, Phil, thanks for all your help.

Just Another Photo

Looking through the turns!  Life is better than I deserve.  I have a tendency to get frustrated and angry with those around me for less than justifiable reasons.  As always, I will try to do better tomorrow remembering my ride and why we call the little things "little".

Coming Soon.  Posts from camp Nowhere Greenbrier Texas!

Why I Love East Texas (Tyler)

Took this picture this afternoon after scattered showers during the day.  I have seen a lot of places, but Tyler and East Texas is still my favorite place in the World.  Best thing is, there is always a back road to where you want to go.  If you ever find yourself on a bike around Tyler, do yourself a favor and cruise around Lake Tyler.  Its a small lake, and every road around it has something to see.

Bug and the Windshield

Here is the corny post for the week.  Lets just say that it was not the most fun today at work and I felt a lot more like the bug than the windshield.  Took a ride this afternoon out around Lake Tyler and it was beautiful and relaxing.  I will try to upload the pictures for later.  I have it so good it isn't even fair.  So my thought for the day is that even when you think your the bug, you may just need a little perspective.  I hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend!

Your Child Isn't That Smart

I can agree that watching a young mind learn is amazing.  You can literally see the lights turning on.  I just want to caution you that bragging on your 9 year old's intelligence is hard to explain when they start smoking pot and it is all they can do to hold down a minimum wage job.  Also, your child is not a great athlete unless they are getting paid for it (free ride to college counts)!

Canyon Lake

Great ride on Saturday.  Started out in Austin and road to Wimberley via RR12.  I highly recommend starting early before the traffic picks up.  If you find yourself in Wimberley, you are just a few short miles to Canyon Lake.  The tight winding roads are a blast, just be ready to stop on the side of the road to look out across the country side from the top of a mountain/hill.  Made the mistake of stopping at the touristy cafe in the middle of Wimberley.  I recommend the Wimberley Brewery, it has all of the markings of a hill country stop.

Thought of the ride.  Always take the time to visit friends.

Look Through the Turn

My good friend Poff told my after my purchase of a FLSTC to Look Through the Turns!  It is sound advise for riding a motorcycle or dealing with life.  As I'm riding I always have the expression in my head as I relax from the stresses of the day and take time to think about bigger things like what is around the corner for me in work, life, love and all points in between.  I hope everyone at least enjoys hearing about some fun places to ride.
